As 2381 turns into 2382; Vice Admiral Frost, Rear Admiral James and Major General Dakeyras discover a cure to the 'illness' that has swept over Starbase Omega.
|| 2381 ||
2381 gets off to an extremely bad
start, as various Omega Fleet officers are arrested for crimes, they claim not
to have committed. While further investigation is completed into these cases, a
Cardassian cargo ship is towed to Starbase Omega for repairs. Demanding their
vessel returned to them, both the Venture-B and April-B are ordered to “escort”
the damaged ship back to Cardassian space.
Meanwhile, on Starbase Omega new evidence is discovered which links the various
crimes committed aboard the Station and the Fleet’s vessels, to members of
a similar Mirror Universe. Ordering his Fleet locked down, Admiral Frost is too
late for members from a rouge group to have slipped aboard the USS Robert
April-B.
With both the Venture and Robert April towing the stricken cargo ship home, the
April, under the command of Commander Les Foster, picks up a distress call from
a Federation Cargo Ship, the SS Crazyhorse. Ordering the April to investigate
the distress call, Commander Foster and his crew leave the Venture to tow the
cargo ship home.
Upon arriving at the location of the distress call, April is attacked by the
Crazyhorse and suffers damage to its fore section. With the crew attempting to make
repairs to damaged ship, it is discovered the Commander Les Foster, and his
Executive Officer, Commander Leigh Maurer have been kidnapped by the crew of the Crazyhorse and in return beamed over members of his personal guard, who are
indeed Mirror Universe counterparts of Fleet Admiral (RTD) Stayduhar’s people,
who begin to gut the April from the inside out.
The situation, however, manages to become even more critical, as reports from
Starbase Omega indicate that Admiral Frost has suffered a mental breakdown and
locked down Starbase Omega. Ordered to return to port, the April once again
encounters the Crazyhorse. This time the Mirror Universe vessel, under the
command of Les Foster’s Mirror Universe counterpart, Les Roche demands medical
supplies in return for Commanders Foster and Maurer.
Refusing Roche’s demands, the April is once again attacked, this time she
managed to wield a deadly blow to the Crazyhorse as her Warp Core is badly
damaged. Managing to escape the stricken craft, Roche escape back to his own
Universe, but allows his prisoners and majority of his crew to go down with his
ship. With Roche's ship seemly destroyed with Foster and Maurer are considered
lost in action, the April is escorted back to Starbase Omega by the USS Venture.
Finally arriving back at Starbase Omega, the Venture, Robert April and the
Starfleet Intelligence vessel;
USS Stevenage manage to break through Admiral Frost’s lock down codes and regain
control of the station. The April, which suffered damage in the previous
mission, is placed on the “fix shop” list.
The Stevenage, carrying officers (Rear Admiral John Jones, and Captain Rebecca
Jones) assigned to Starfleet Intelligence come aboard
to collect information from Commanders Foster and Maurer regarding the Mirror
Universe. Of course this is a cover for their actual mission. The Jones' are
actually in command of Starfleet Intelligence's Sirian Project and have arrived
at Starbase Omega to extract information from Commander Les Foster, a former
member of the project, and of course collect information the
alien’s code named “MG-1243” (other wise know as the Sirians - Sian Stayduhar's
race) who were captured aboard the USS Robert April.
Unfortunately for Jones' they are informed of the potential loss of Foster and Maurer after the loss of the Crazyhorse due to it's core breaching. Even though there is no evidence to support the destruction of the cargo ship, the Jones' are ordered by Starfleet Intelligence to locate Foster and Maurer and if possible return them to Starbase Omega for de-briefing. - However before departing, the Stevenage transfers the Sirians that were captured aboard the Robert April, under the pre-tense that they will be taken to Starfleet Intelligence on Earth. Rear Admiral Jones also manages to 'borrow' the soon-to-be Senior Staff of the Omega Fleet's latest addition for his mission.
Before the Stevenage's departure,
Vice Admiral Frost is informed of possible transfer orders for himself and
various members of his staff. Frost drops this information into a conversation
with Rear Admiral Jones, with a possible hint changes could be
The Venture-B is cleared for duty and is assigned to escort the newly rebuilt
hull of the original USS Excelsior to a near by Space Museum, while the Robert
April returns to dry-dock for a complete overall of it's internal systems, and
repairs to damaged sections of the ship. The Stevenage also departs Starbase
Omega in their quest to locate Commanders Foster and Maurer.
With the Robert April being refitted, her crew are assigned to Starbase Omega until a such that the Akira Class Ship is repaired. However a simple interim mission goes a wry as Q decides to pay the Station and Vice Admiral Frost a visit. As Q plays his usual fun and games with Omega Fleet, as a mysterious wave washes over the Regula Class Station, which reverts many members of the crew mental and physical appearance back several years; many becoming children once again.
However not all is well aboard the Venture-B as yet again, members from Roche's mirror universe manage to take control of the Excelsior and cause havoc aboard the Excelsior and Venture. Thankfully Rear Admiral McMullen and his crew are able to subdue the would-be terrorists and regain control of the historic Starship, before finally presenting it to the staff at the Federation's Space Museum located at Earth. - With her mission now complete, the Venture prepares to depart for Starbase Omega, but before she does, the Omega Fleet's Second Officer; Rear Admiral McMullen is offered command of the USS Damocles, NCC-17053 and an assignment outside the Omega Fleet, by none other than Vice Admiral Janeway. Without much convincing, McMullen happily accepting the new assignment and position before immediately transferring across to his new command, while 'pulling rank' to taking majority of his Senior Staff with him.
The Venture itself is ordered to remain at Earth, until the Omega Fleet's latest addition, the newly build Phoenix, is prepared for transport to the Mizar system and commissioning into the Omega Fleet.
|| 2380 ||
With the encounter with Praetor
Shinzon very much on Starfleet Command’s mind, all tactical Fleets are
re-ordered and assigned new duties, in the event that the Romulan Star Empire
use this peaceful time to attack the Federation. The Omega Fleet is formalized
as Starfleet's 7th Fleet, and given the order to rebuild all her forces. Her
mission, to defend the Federation and her allies from all those who would
attack.
2380 also see a familiar name return to front line action within the Omega
Fleet. Having restructured all of their tactical fleets, Starfleet has knowledge
the lack of “fire power” within the Omega Fleet and as such orders the
construction and commissioning of the USS Robert April, NCC-2347-B, the second
Akira Class Starship to hold the name.
Rear Admiral Frost is also promoted
to Vice Admiral while Rear Admiral [L] Julia James and Fleet Captain McMullen
are promoted to Rear Admiral [U] and Rear Admiral [L] respectively.
|| 2379 ||
Due Fleet Admiral Stayduhar
returning to her own people and the death of Admiral John Jones, custody of the
Fleet is given to Rear Admiral Madigan Frost. The fleet's headquarters is transferred
to a central command base, Starbase Omega (nee: 173), which features drydock and
ship construction yards, as well as academy facilities for advanced students.
Along with Admiral Frost to Commanding Officer, Rear Admiral [L] Julia James
(Fleet's Second Officer) is promoted to Fleet Executive Officer, while Captain
Robert McMullen is assigned as Fleet Second Officer and assigned the special
rank of Fleet Captain..
After the loss of the USS Venture-A, Starfleet assigns a newly commissioned
Sovereign Class Starship to the Omega Fleet as her Flagship. Once again allowing
special permission, this ship is commissioned as the USS Venture, NCC-1054-B and
assigned to Captain Robert McMullen, former commanding officer of the USS
Oblivion.
Starfleet Intelligence uncovers reports of a new weapon being used to wipe out
the population of planets. The weaponry is based on the recently declassified
self-sustaining matter-energy conversion matrix effect, better known as 'The
Genesis Effect'. The weapons were being used by the Son'a, who planned to carry
out a comprehensive strike against various Federation homeworlds. This plan
would have effectively eliminated the Federation itself in one swift move,
virtually overnight.
The heroic efforts of the Omega Fleet ships, their crews, and the timely arrival
of their CLAW allies all combined to foil the plans and recover the weapons,
unused. The price was high however....many lives were lost, and all ships
suffered severe damage. With months upon months of work expected on all Omega
Fleet vessels, the USS Valley and Oblivion are dry docked with all the Fleet’s
engineering staff’s attentions tuned on USS Venture-B and the USS Arizona.
Several months pass within the Omega Fleet without incident, thus allowing the
final work on the Venture-B and the Arizona to be completed. However with both
their re-launches pending, a mysterious vessel appears in Omega Fleet space.
Ordering the Venture and Arizona to investigate, Admiral Frost is astonished to
discover the ship is a “timeship” and from the future. Threatening to remove the
Omega Fleet from the face of history, Frost orders the Venture and Arizona to
defend themselves. In the ensuing Fleet fracas, the Arizona is once again
heavily damaged, but is still able to assist the Venture in driving the
“timeship” back to it’s correct timeline.
Limping back to the Starbase, the order is given to dry-docked Arizona with
Engineering ordered to concentrate on the Venture-B.
While the Omega Fleet itself is rebuilding it’s forces once again; the Romulan
group known as The CLAW have been approached by representatives from the Romulan
Empire. Amnesty has been offered, and in light of the noble actions of the
Federation during the brief reign of Emperor Shinzon, Romulan Liaison officers
are being allowed aboard Omega Fleet vessels, to allow Romulans and the
Federation an opportunity to build closer ties together.
|| 2378 ||
Sees yet another change in command,
as Fleet Admiral Sian Stayduhar replaces Admiral John Jones as Commanding
Officer of the newly renamed Omega Fleet. The fleet's mission itself remains the
same; to protect the Federation from anything that may dare attack. In March of
that year, that principle came to the forefront with a large Fury Fleet
attempting to take control of Starbase 173 and the Mizar system.
Due to the brave actions of the Robert April-A, and her crew, the Fury fleet was
driven back and peace once again returned to the Mizar System and indeed the
Federation, however at great expense. During the initial phases of the attack,
Admiral Jones, the April’s Commanding Officer vanished, and presumed Mission in
Action.
With the Fleet’s ever expanding duties, Starfleet Command assigned additional
vessels to the Omega Fleet. An Intrepid Class, refitted as a Medical Ship, named
the USS Valley under the command of Commander Carmel Tay, as well the Defiant
Class USS Oblivion, under the Command of Captain Robert Blackadder.
With the arrival of new vessels to the Omega Fleet’s command, tragedy strikes as
the USS Robert April-A is badly damaged while investigating an unknown region of
space. With the drive section destroyed due to a warp core breach, the surviving
crew are later discovered within the April’s saucer section. With the drive
section destroyed, and rather than reattaching the April’s saucer section to
another Galaxy Class, the decision is made to decommission the USS Robert
April-A from active service and to scrape the saucer section.
With the ever present danger of the Borg, the Dominion and addition to the
return of the USS Voyager from the Delta Quadrant heralded the potential threat
of Species 8472. Starfleet assigns a new Starship, the Prometheus class USS
Arizona to the Omega Fleet. The Arizona is the first Omega Fleet vessel to be
brought online with more focus on offence rather that exploration.
With 2378 slowly counting down, and the arrival of the New Year only days away,
tragedy hits the Omega Fleet as the Fleet Flag ship, the Venture-A, while under
the command of Captain Les Foster, is attacked an unknown alien vessel, while on
a diplomatic mission to Romulus. Seeing an opportunity to crush the Omega Fleet,
the Tal’Shiar attempts to steal the Venture and use its computer systems to
steal vital information about the Federation.
Seeing no other choice, but to destroy the Venture, the crew are saved by a
near-by Klingon Scout group, and the USS Oblivion who have picked up the Ship’s
distress call. Ordered to investigate the destruction of the Venture, by Fleet
Admiral Stayduhar; who is aboard the Oblivion, the crew and the Fleet Admiral
finally discover and make first contact with Fleet Admiral Stayduhar’s race
(Code named: MG-1243, but Starfleet Intelligence).
Deciding to turn her back on the Federation and return to her own people for the
first time in nearly 40 years; Stayduhar hands command of the Fleet over to
Admiral Jones before vanishing into the unknowns of space.
|| 2377 ||
With a new year brought a new
Starship to the Fleet of Eden, and new orders. Since the destruction of the
Independence, the Venture had been assigned to patrol the Neutral Zone,
assisting the CLAW when necessary and the protection of Fleet of Eden
Headquarters at Deep Space 12.
With Brace’s command of the Fleet going extremely well, Starfleet orders the
expansion of the Fleet operational orders to the protection and exploration of
the Alpha Quadrant as well as it’s continuing operations within the Beta
Quadrant. In addition to this the Federation Regula Space Station, Starbase 173
is relocated to the Mizar system as command centre for all operations in the
Alpha Quadrant. There, the newly commissioned USS Robert April, NCC-2347, an
Akira class vessel, outfitted as a Torpedo Cruiser/Battle Cruiser is assigned to
former USS Venture Executive Officer, Captain John Jones, with a member of the
CLAW; Commander Norium Loch assigned as his Executive Officer.
While both the USS Venture & Robert April continued on their mission of
exploration, Admiral Levinson was unfortunately transferred back to Starfleet
Intelligence. In need of a new Executive Officer, the Fleet Admiral quickly
selected Captain Marie Wilson to that position, also promoting her to the rank
of Commodore.
With messages of congratulations being past back and fourth to the newly
promoted Commodore, the Borg began their third invasion of the Federation. First
indication of this potential invasion were experienced by the Robert April
during a routine patrol of the Romulan Neutral Zone, where ordered to disable a
Borg Scout Ship. Beaming aboard and collecting the sensitive information, the
April managed to return to Deep Space 12 under heavy fire.
Upon inspection of information collected from the Scout ship, Starfleet
discovered the Borg have planed yet another invasion of the Federation, three
Borg Cubes are located somewhere in the Romulan side of the Neutral Zone.
Ordering the Robert April to investigate this possibility, Starfleet also
mobilized two Fleets:
- One at Deep Space 12, made up of all Fleet of Eden Starships, 5 Federation
Starships from nearby Fleets, 180 CLAW assault fighters, 8 Klingon Vessels, and
10 Romulan Warbirds. This Fleet was assigned to Commodore Wilson.
- The second Fleet of over 200 was mobilized and located at Wolf 359, under the
command of Vice Admiral Richard Morgan.
Meanwhile, while Investigating several destroyed relay station in the Romulan
Neutral Zone, Jones and the Robert April locate the Borg Fleet. Before being
captured, the April leave the Neutral Zone and joins the rest of the Fleet of
Eden defence Fleet at Deep Space 12.
Engaging the Borg at Deep Space 12, several of the Fleet’s defence force is
destroyed within the first few exchanges. Leaving the area as quickly as they’d
arrived, the Borg continue on their mission for Earth. Giving the order to
continue attacking, Commodore Wilson, the Venture, Robert April and Britannia as
the only remaining vessels continue the fire fight with the Cubes as they head
directly for Wolf 359 and Earth.
As the battle rages on for several days, Commodore Wilson’s ship is boarded and
she is assimilated. With her knowledge and experience, the USS Venture, NCC-1054
is destroyed. As the Borg and remaining vessels arrive at Wolf 359, Commodore
Wilson is rescued shortly before the remaining Cubes are destroyed. With the
Invasion over, life once again returns to normal. Commodore Wilson is
transported to Deep Space 12 to be unassimilated, and the Robert April is
repaired.
With the unfortunate loss of the USS Venture during the battle of Wolf-359-II,
Starfleet assigns the Sovereign Class, USS Racer NCC-25546 to replace the
Venture. With special permission from Starfleet Command, the Racer is renamed
USS Venture, NCC-1054-A and assigned to Commodore Wilson.
With Fleet Admiral Brace retiring from active service, command of the Fleet is
handed to the newly promoted Rear-Admiral Marie Wilson. Her connections to the
Romulan government were known, but she was thought to be the best choice for the
job, seen as someone who would speak for both the interests of the Federation
and the Romulans.
With Admiral Wilson replacing Fleet Admiral Brace, Captain John Jones, and
Commanding Officer of the USS Robert April is promoted to Commodore and assigned
as Fleet of Eden Executive Officer.
Even with the Venture-A assigned to her Command, Rear Admiral Wilson never
actually takes command of her Sovereign Class command as in late 2377; she
betrayed the Federation and returned to the Romulans, across the Neutral Zone.
Tasked with securing the Fleet, and returning the traitor Wilson, Rear Admiral
Tanja Meder is assigned Command of the Omega Fleet and her Flagship, the
Venture-A. A short time later, Tanja Meder is promoted to Fleet Admiral.
Ordering Commodore Jones and the Robert April to capture the former Rear Admiral
Wilson and return her to the Federation for Court Marshall; while on route to
the Romulan Zone, the the Akira Class Starship is intercepted by a Romulan Task
force commanded by Marie Wilson. Ordering Wilson to return, Jones’ task is made
worse when Robert April is attacked by several Talon Class starships.
Sacrificing his command rather than his crew the April is unfortunately
destroyed, having not captured Wilson.
Returning to Deep Space 12, Jones, against Meder’s wishes, is promoted to the
rank of Admiral and assigned command of the USS Robert April, NCC-2347-A, a
newly commissioned Galaxy Class Starship.
Like Rear Admiral Wilson, Fleet Admiral Meder’s reign as Fleet of Eden
Commanding Officer is short lived, as, whilst on a routine first contact
mission, Meder, while on an away mission to the newly discovered race’s ship, is
captured by the unknown Alien race. Having no coordinates and no possibility of
locating the Fleet Admiral, she is considered as Mission in Action, before her
Command is assigned to Admiral John Jones.
Command of the Venture is assigned to Rear Admiral Madigan Frost, who has
returned to his former Command after a period commanding the Fleet’s operations
at Deep Space 12.
|| 2376 ||
The Omega Fleet, originally
classified as the Fleet of Eden, was formed in 2376, just months after the end
of the Dominion war. The Fleet’s original mission was to patrol the border of
the Romulan Neutral Zone.
The Fleet was originally assigned to Fleet Admiral Liam David Brace. The Fleet's
primary mission was the continued exploration of the Beta Quadrant, protecting
the Federation against any hostile races, and to encourage a Peace Treaty
between the Federation and Romulan Star Empire.
The Fleet itself was initially assigned a command outpost and two Starships to
achieve Starfleet’s mission of contined exploration.
Starbase 173, a Regula Class Space Station, which had already seen 12 years
service, was towed to its new location and assigned to Admiral Brace’s Executive
Officer: Vice Admiral Katrina Levinson. Also assigned to Starbase 173, was the
newly commission USS Independence, NCC-2401 an Intrepid Class, also placed under
the command of Admiral Levinson.
The honour of holding Flagship status, however, fell to the Galaxy Class; USS
Venture, NCC-1054, a veteran of Dominion War, which joined the Fleet shortly
after it’s six month refit, and was assigned to Captain Madigan Frost, another
veteran of the Dominion War.
As the small Fleet began to assert itself within its assigned Sector, things
quickly turned out slightly different to Starfleet’s original plan:
Within a few months of the Fleet’s inception, a mysterious Tal'Shiar splinter
group calling themselves 'The CLAW', attempted to continue the Empire’s long
feud with the Federation and declared war on the Federation, or to be more
precise the Fleet of Eden.
For several months CLAW ships made continuous raids on Federation Cargo ships,
deep within Federation space in a bid to entice the Fleet into retaliating
against some of their actions. With hostilities between the Fleet and the CLAW
reaching an all time high after the unprovoked attack, that led to the
destruction of the USS Independence, the War which the CLAW craved was close.
The CLAW continued to play their war card with an unprovoked attack on the
Fleet’s command centre, Starbase 173. With a huge loss of life, and the Station
barely operable, the Fleet of Eden was ordered to pull back from its
headquarters near from the Romulan Neutral Zone, pending further action from
Starfleet Command.
However before the year’s end, one simple act of kindness changed the whole
course of the “War” between the Fleet of Eden and the CLAW.
With the CLAW proclaiming victory over the Omega Fleet and indeed the
Federation, after its forced withdrawal from Starbase 173; they allowed their
guard to fall as a massive Fury Fleet began attacking several of the CLAW’s
claimed outposts and planets. Unable to deal with the threat on their own; a
distress call was dispatched to any and all vessels, however with the general
consensuses was that no one from the Romulan Star Empire, or Federation, would
come to save them.
Picking up the distress call, while on a routine patrol mission, the USS
Venture, now under the command of Captain Marie Wilson came to the aid of the
CLAW. Shortly after this selfless act, a peace treaty between both groups was
formed. As part of the peace treaty, The CLAW established a colony called New
Eden near the Fury border. As part of their agreement to the treaty, the Fleet
of Eden was re-assigned to New Eden and Deep Space 12, was towed into orbit of
New Eden.
